Hello my name is Tanya Burville and I am the Creator of Meditation Magic. I teach Meditation, Tai Chi and offer Reiki Healing in the Wollongong region. I am registered with the Meditation Association of Australia (MA) and am a Member of the Tai Chi for Health Institute and International Institute for Complementary Therapists (IICT). 

My mission is to create a happy and healthy community by empowering others take an active part in their physical and mental health and well being. My approach is holisitc practices for better health, harmony and happiness. I can help you and your family develop practices and techniques to improve your health, manage stress and difficult times, relax and soothe the strains of everyday living.

The Meditation Association of Australia is the national body for registration and representation of meditation teachers. It has high standards for membership ensuring registered teachers have an adequate level of professional training and experience and are committed to their personal meditation practice. As a registered member I am amongst the most qualified and experienced Meditation Teachers in Australia. I am the only Meditation Teacher in Wollongong registered with the  Association. 

The Tai Chi for Health Institute was founded in 2010 by Dr Lam and many of his Tai Chi for Health colleagues with a vision is to empower people to improve their health and wellness through learning and practicing the Tai Chi for Health Programs which have been created by Medical and Tai Chi Experts and supported by health organisations around the world. The Institute is committed to ensuring the high quality and standards of teaching and Instructors. 

My Story...

A few years ago I sought out meditation when I was studying full time and found myself as a single parent with two young children. I was exhausted, stressed and felt overwhelmed. I thought that meditation might help so I found a local meditation group and began to attend a weekly class. Meditation helped me relax, settle my busy mind, replenish my energies and release tensions. As I reconnected with myself I gained perspective which encouraged me to make better lifestyle choices. I looked forward to the class each week. It was a special time just for me.  

I will never forget my experience on the first evening. I entered a deep state of relaxation and felt completely at peace. I felt more myself than I had done in years. I was so moved by this experience that I continued meditating on a regular basis. I have noticed many positive changes take place in my life since beginning my daily meditation practice. I am calmer, more focused and happier. I am more aware of how I am feeling and what I need mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually and less distracted by excessive thinking. Meditation has helped me become more present and compassionate with myself and others and respond better to situations.

I have been practicing Meditation daily for about 6 years and it is an essential part of my life. I have introduced meditation to my two children. They love meditating with me and often remind me that it's time for meditation. I have noticed that they use meditation techniques at other times during their day when they are feeling angry, upset or anxious to settle and soothe themselves. 


Meditation for me is the most wonderful personal journey of self-awareness, acceptance, discovery, transformation and healing.  It not only has many health benefits but it is a wonderful self-care practice and tool for personal development.

I have always enjoyed the gentle and flowing movements of Tai Chi. I find it very relaxing to practice and watch. My love for Tai Chi began a few years ago when I experienced it as part of a Retreat. Tai Chi contains all of the elements that Health and Exercise Experts recommend in an exercise program. It increases muscular strength, flexiblity, fitness and cardiovascular (heart and lung) functioning. It has many other amazing health benefits improving relaxation, balance and immunity. Since beginning regular Tai Chi I have noticed improvement in my strength, energy, posture, flexibility and fitness. My passion for Tai Chi lead me to become an Instructor to assist others in learning this beautiful Chinese ancient art form to improve their health.    

For me the decision to become a Meditation Teacher and Tai Chi Instructor was a natural progression. It fills me with such joy to be able to help adults and children develop their own Meditation and Tai Chi practice and live a more happy and satisfying life.
